hi fellow rotorheads!
iv wanted one of these things for sooooo long now, and i finaly have one! its a red 1987 gsl 5 speed w/ 14 in alloys. i picked it up from this dude who had taken pretty good care of it(3rd owner, never smoked in, reg oil changes, ect...) i am however reaping the bennifits of his poor judgment in tampering with the adjustment screws on the throttle body. it also consumed a half a quart of oil in about 300 miles, but it doesnt show the telltail signs of exessive oil consumption.
i did go as far a purchacing a hanes repair manual from auto zone, but the trouble shooting catagorys have so many answers as to what may be the problem and hardly any procedures on how to actually trouble shoot the system.
here are the other problems i am having.
hi idle 1200rpm and fluxuates sometimes up to 3500 rpm
extreemly low and rough idle between 450 and 850 rpm but does not stall.
during the hi idle senario "after burn" is 1-2 poping sounds per second but in low idle senario after burn is quite frequent.
and sometimes it will idle at a constant 1100 rpm with minimal after burn and runs very smoothly.
today i noticed another nagging concern, in 3rd gear under heavy acceleration there seemed to be a hesitation or a flat line in the torque curve around 3500 to 4000 rpm
i wont even list the problems im having with the transmission, lets just say its a little noisy!
well i hope some one can help me. if you havnt read my profile then i shall reitterate that i am educated in the automotive field and i have a pretty good grasp on how these things(the wonderful toys that they are)operate, i just dont know that much about fixing ones problems....YET!!! though im will and eager to learn!!
thanx!!!

If you include the problem in the title, you will get helped much quicker as people tend to ignore threads with generic titles like "Hi", or "New ..."
