Hey, I just recently bought a 1988 RX7 T2 10th anniversary special edition and its a beautiful car and everything is going great except the the linkage sucks and id like to get a shorter stick. I just got into cars and dont really know all that much about them but im learning pretty fast and was looking on some advice on what to get, thanks for any help.

Do a search for "short shifter".

go over to mazdatrix.com, they have a short shifter with bushings for ~$200, which isn't too bad, being that you get to rebuild the whole shifter and make it shorter. Feels like a whole new car with just new bushings.
