Help: my cars confused

ok here it what is going on, i have a 87 gtu and when i first start it when it is cold it runs around 1200 rpm, but let it sit for about a minute or 2 it jumps up to 1500rpm, then after another couple of minutes it jumps up to 2500 and doesnt go back down until after i shut the car off and restart it. please help

87 gtu? i thought GTU's came in s5 no s4.

S4 had the 'GTU', S5 had 'GTU' and 'GTUs'.

thank you all, i am not totally sure what model i just no that it has 4 piston brakes, its n/a with a very good lsd, the car was repainted and all the badges are gone
