thank you brian TII for your continuouis vote of confidence. May I suggest brian buy the 1989 honda accord 4 cylinder carborated model to replace his nice maxima.
My vote for the daily drivers are:
1984/85 GSL-SE 1st gen
1989-91 convertible 2nd gen
1986/87 GXL with the 2+2 rear seats.
If you need 4 doors
1989-1991 mazda 929

I think if you have 6 grand in your pocket, you can get that TII to be nice and reliable for you. 
If not, or you just dont want to mess with it, i would say get an N/A just to have fun in. Go to a lot and test drive a few cars, Good luck.
