Help me decide on exhaust (t2 w/ rb downpipe)
I need some help picking out exhaust for my car. I would much prefer duals, as I dislike the way singles look. Anybody know if I can hook up my stock NA exhaust to the RB downpipe? Or does that require a presilencer? What do you guys suggest? I'm looking to spend no more than $500, and I have a complete good condition NA exhaust, so if I can slap that on there for cheap until I get something else, i'd behappy. Anyone have any input?

if you're talking about the 3" RB downpipe. nothing you can buy will bolt to it exect the rest of the RB system. you'll have to custom make something. I wouldn't use the N/A catback it'll flow like crap

im almost completely sure that the RB downpipe will not mate to the NA stock exhaust without the presilencer. the TII had the DP, then a connecting pipe, then the cat-converter, while the NA had 2 pre-cats. (its late...i might be babbling)
If you want, im sure if you take your car to a shop, they can fab a straight pipe from your downpipe to your stock Y-pipe for roughly $200 give or take or a custom pipe from the DP to the cat.
The cat converter back is the same on both models. that lets you use your stock dual system.
Its going to be hard (i know someone'll proove me wrong) to find a dual catback system for less than $500 that is of respectable quality.
hope this helps some

Yeah, I figured as much as far as price, and I have the 2.5" downpipe, I don't want to go boosting to the sky and blowing my poor car up already Oh, and also, the NA exhaust I have, isn't 'stock', it has aftermarket mufflers on it with the stock Y-pipe and cat/precat. Anyway I can just rig this up until I either order the corskport or something else? To me it looks like the downpipe is long enough to bolt up to main cat without anything else being added, I'll have to look more closely tomorrow.

well, now you are saying it's just a replacement? I just need some exhaust to last me until I buy a new set. Can the 2.5" RB DP be bolted up to the main cat? Or do I need to have the test pipe in place? This is where I am confused, what exactly do I need to bolt the RB downpipe to my old exhaust? I don't need cats, so I can remove those if need be.

hey ryde_or_die, would you recommend that downpipe...thats pretty damn cheap..175 bux...
I might chose to go that route when i put the tII in before i get a custom system.

Hmm, I have the 2.5" I guess I'll try to slap my old exhaust on tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks for all the info. I might be intrested in the RB catback, can I just buy the presilencer and hook that up to the catback instead of using the cats?

As far as I know, It replaces the main cat. Cause if you think about it, the DP replaces the precat, and mates to the main cat. and the cat back has to mate to the main cat. I dont thin RB would make either of these short, it would probably **** some people off. Maybe im not getting your question/problem.

Ok, I have a complete exhaust setup, precat/maincat/ypipe/two mufflers. What I am wondering, is can I bolt this to my RB downpipe without having a presilencer.

It will replaice your precat, and bolt to your main cat. A presilencer just quiets the tone. Your options are: cat, presilencer, and straight pipe. One will of these will go inbetween your DP and cat-back.
cat = legal and quiet
straight pipe = illegal and loud
presilencer = illegal and quieter than above.
