kabooski: why would it have a distro, out of curiosity? Any advantages to that? I guess it goes in the same place as the crank angle sensor, so there's no need for it, correct?

That engine is the s4 13b, EFI, 146hp 6 port nonturbo engine. IT is what is *supposed* to be in any 86, 87, or 88 nonturbo car.Enough people on here have s4 nonturbos that I thought surely someone would have said "hey, that matches my engine". 12a, c'mon guys, 12a's are carbed, where do you see a carb?
I dont mean to bust anyone's ***** here, but I couldnt believe my eyes when i read this. A guy asks what engine he has, and he posts this in teh 2nd gen forum...this leads one to believe he has a 2nd gen. There are 4 engines that came in 2gens, and you guys dont respond with any of them. And this is supposed to be the largest (and most knowledgeable) rotary forum in teh world?

Banned. I got OWNED!!!
YEah bitch, and that's like someone asking what color the sky is, and a bunch of colorblind people reply green purple white adn everything except blue.
Its not the fact that you dont know, not at all. I have no problem with that, and I will try to help anyone with anything they ask. ITs the fact that over and over I read where people ask a question, and people reply saying **** that they dont know anything about, rather than saying "I dont know" or whatever, but instead theyre like "it is a gslse 13b form an 84". That's how misinformation gets spread. IF you dont know, then maybe wait until you read a post that explains it all out fo ryou so you and everyone else can learn the right way instead of saying whatever pops in your mind.
So what you ask? Well, now some people who have read this thread see this and they say well *that engine*(picture in head) is a gslse 13b from an 84" and when someone else posts something they'll be spreading *more* misinformation.
A classic example: the ATF threads. Before 2 years ago I never heard tell of the "atf trick". I heard of unflooding an FC with atf, but not the "cleaning and lube" trick that is spoken so highly of. SO now so much bullshit has spread around about it, that someone can post "Well my engine died today, I was racing at 8000rpm in 4th under 14 pounds of boost and a rotor fell out of my engine and it blew up" and someone, invariably, will reply "do the atf trick it might help". IFyou read this kind of dumb **** all day long it begins to bother you that people run around speaking without thinking, and spreading misinformation. That's all.

My guess on that engine would be a PO had probs with the CAS and someone ignorant of EFI suggested a dizzy/coil conversion would be the best fix.

Former Moderator. RIP Icemark.
Kevin is correct overall on this... too many people jump in and say "its this" when they don't have a clue. If you don't know for sure, say," I think it is this, but I don't know for sure". There is no shame saying that you don't know for sure.
BTW: Most of the euro-models of the 13B NA FC had a distributer instead of an crank angle sensor and ECU control. And its very common in countries without or with limited emission controls to have the set up shown in those pictures.

Hi. The orign is Germany. The engine is lot different from the ones in USA. Europe versions dont have EGR valve.
I'm just thinking is my engine 6port or 4 port engine cause I have different intake mainfold where actuators are at engine side.

My problem is that I cant find any info about my engine anywhere. Everything looks the same exept ACV & Exhaust system Engine core says 13B thats for shure. But I just cant figure out where the O2 sensor should go.
Hmmm.
"Its hard when you have only 2 cars in The country"
1 is mine: 87 n/a
2 my friend's 89 TII

I thought it was in the HB Cosmo, but I've just checked DMRH (rotary guru) and the 12A 6-port in the '82-'83 Cosmo was carbed. The '84-87 got the EFI 13B 6-port. All years had the 12A Turbo.
Oh well...
12A-SPI (six port induction)
12A Turbo (I had one of these )
13B RE-SI (rotary engine - super injection)

Huh? The turbo motors are just nearly the samething, besides the obvious turbo, IC and a few things added.

I understand his frustration. Most of the time people give out wrong information or say "use the search n00b" which is pathetic. Even though people are still learning, atleast look up the information you're going to post before posting it - esp. some stating it's a 12A motor......
And nope, I don't know everything.I 've owned mine since March of 02 - I'm still learning...... soo.

nothing to be frustrated about
its stock Euro-spec S4 NA
- no boost/pressure sensor in engine bay
- no CAS (comes with distributor and coils, same like first gens)
- no Oxygen sensor
- 6 ports with butterflies instead of sleeves
Everything else is pretty much same like US S4 NA motor and of course parts are interchangeable
ECU is N322
