Could the white smoke be caused by anti-freeze? Or wat is the other probable issue?

I pulled one of my FCs out of a field and it'd been sitting for a great deal of time...it smoked bad when I got it going for the entire day, and smoked bad on startup for a few days and then it finally stopped. If it's coolant that's burning, you'll smell a sweet smell kinda like toasted almonds.

Go with what he said.....As I stated before, when rotary engines sit for long periods of time and upon start-up and running there will be tons of smoke......It may go away in a few hours and then it may last for days....But it will eventually go away.....Glad you got it running.....Just start it everyday and drive it around your farm for as long as you can everyday........It will go away....But make sure all fluids are topped off before start-up!!!!!!! Enjoy!!!!!

Oh my god, I'm not even sure why I didn't direct you to my starting problem thread...

Here... read the last few posts when I explained what I did to TEST...if the test fails, well then...that could be your problem. However, I'm not sure it's going to be the same for S5 but it's worth looking into..

interesting stuff and way over my head as well, but doesn't that case apply to cars with a transmission swap? I mean i will definitely read it again and try to look into it because getting no starting signal to my ECU may be the real problem.

however this part is going to be hard since I have no idea about wiring, circuits, and the like.

It's dead easy...get yourself a multi-meter. Look at the FSM and find the starting circuit. Backprobe and attempt to start.

ok so today we did some work on the car.

inspected the fuel pump and it seemed to be free of clogging trouble.

We cleaned the plugs decently and then drove it to the hill to pop start it.

This time we drove for about 2 miles all very successfully. The motor would even rev in neutral so it wasn't really dying.

Eventually when I drove it back to where we started it began to overheat.

we only had water in the radiator reservoir..
so i let it roll down to my driveway and let it cool off.

during the driving there was relatively little smoke compared to my first pop start a few weeks ago.

but when driving up hill it would be burning something, smoke coming from the engine bay, and when we popped the hood the water was kinda bubbling and there was steam.

My questions are:

Wouldn't water be enough to satisfy my cooling needs?

The starting problem has to be electrical right? I mean the motor works, it cranks, fuel works, spark, compression, but no start?

Could my cooling system be failing?

When it was overheating there was a loud tone in the cockpit and the warning lights for ad coolant and overheating were on.

the temp gauge when driving looked alright though, and we had above 30 on the oil pressure gauge.

ALSO : draining the radiator. i was looking for the drain plug but my car wasn't jacked up so it wasnt easy to get even a couple inches under the front, however i may have found the drain plug. what size is the plug? the one I thought was the drain plug was easily >27 mm

AND: i was looking through the FSM engine electrical but i couldnt exactly figure out where the starting circuit is, or what you mean Acesanugal.

I believed that you were talking about a circuit that sends info the ECU for the starting process, please help my inexperience and stupidity with this

Thanks for any help guys

Was it smoke or steam coming from the engine bay?
Is your water pump working? How long did you drive it for?
Good to hear that there is less smoke from your tail pipe.

Take a peep under the oil filter.

There's a pair of O-Rings between the oil filter base and the rear Iron plate. They like to leak. Additionally, there's a coolant hose below that. Coolant hoses don't like oil.

That hose goes to the firewall and connects to the heater core.
Other side of the heater core connects to a hard pipe on the passenger side frame rail.
That hard pipe connects to a short hose to the lower radiator nipple.

Then there's the "L" shaped pipe that goes from under the intake manifold to the throttle body.

In addition to the two radiator hoses, radiator itself, thermostat housing/upper coolant neck, and the water pump there's not much else to leak coolant in the engine bay to cause steam.

Check it all out before trying to run the engine.
