help with fuel cut switch...

ok, iv read quite a few of the old threads and got a pretty good idea of what to do, a few said to follow the black wire with the white stripe to a controll box, ok, i can do that, but as soon as a find the whire going from the idnition it goes into a connector and changes into a red with a black srtipe, this was the first part where i got confused, also some of the threads iv read say to rewire the black and white wire to a switch then derectly to the fuel pump... uhhh? also can i use a 12V switch with that wire? it's pretty ******* big, should i go with a bigger switch? can some one explain this in a little easer terms, this is the first real wireing thing im doing, short of trying to track down where a short was, if all i need to do is drop a switch into where the black and white wire is then fine, but i thought that that was what went to the 80 amp fuse, the main fuse, if some one can shed some light on this than by all means please... im pretty lost here...

Calmly put down your soldering, and walk away from the car. Call someone familiar with auto electronics. Seriousl, it sounds like you're totally lost and have zero electronics experience. It's best if you have someone else do it.

I found it much easier to get at the wire under the plastic panel under the drivers side door. You just have to be extremely careful to identify the correct wire. Once found you just cut it and splice in two long wires and run them forward along the wire harness, all way under the dash and then run them to the console and install a nice plastic toggles switch in the empty switch hole by the head rest speaker swith (in the covertible)
