Help on Engine !

To start with my car is a 86 base. It idles high like 2000 to 2300 after it has warmed up. I took the plastic piece off to look at the intake plates and the car would start and rev up to 1000 untill it would die. It did this 5 times or so. I put the piece back on and it ran fine accept the high idle. Also it has been quickly rasing and lowering rpms at 1500 to 1800. Which i think this is happening because on the BAC there is a hose missing, it is the hose pointed twards the driver side wheel, All other hoses to it are connected. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well the reason the car staerted and died was ur MAF was not hooked up, when u took that plastic peice off u disconected it, the jumpin idle could be a vac leak thet hose that u talked about on the bac shuld be connected there is a spot of it some where on the intake track... reconnect those and then u should be fine............

just my .02
