Help! Car Won't Stop Screaming

Hello All,

The factory alarm in my 88 GXL won't stop going off! Can someone please help me figure out how to disable it?

Thanks,

Rev

Try unlocking the door with the key. I think someone else asked this a while ago and that's how you shut it off.

That does work but...

I can turn the key in the door to get it to stop, but a couple of hours later it will randomly go off again. I need to permanently disable the security system. Can anyone help me out?

BTW - it started doing this because some jerk tried to break into my car and ruined the driver side lock!

It "should" (in theory) be a broken sensor, based on the facts I will dare to say is the alarm sensor on the drivers side. Remove the dood panel, and the lock itself, there is a micro switch on the lock, disconnect this switch from the lock and hope for the best

Takes Reverend by the hand..........

Go to FC3S.org and download the factory service manual, disconnect the harness from the alarm box...

For now, just lock the car with the key. The way to arm the system is to lock the car from inside, and shut the door with the handle up. If you just close the door, and lock it with the key, the alarm won't arm, and therefor won't go off.

My car did the same thing, heres what i did. Lock your car up, then go to the hatch....open it and then shut it. This disables the alarm totally. Or just take it out and buy a good alarm (the factory alarm is horrible). Last month my car was broken into, the thiefs smashed my drivers side window and it didn't even go off!
