OK I have a 1990 RX-7 non-turbo with a manual tranny. For about a year now it won't start. when the battery isn't dead you can hear it try and turn over but nothing happens. What is wrong with it? and most of all what can I do to fix it? another thing is that when I did drive it you could smell that it was burning rich. what can I do about that as well?

by try and turn over you mean that it spins, or the starter clicks but the engine dosent turn?
if it dosent turn then there may be a piece of carbon making the engine stick, or dead starter.
start from there!

Look in the FAQ for unflooding instructions if the engine is turning over properly.
If the unflooding instructions don't help then you need to do a compression test.
If the engine is not turn at all, see if you can turn it by hand. Put a break bar on the front bolt and see if you can turn it. If it turns then it's a dead starter, if it doesn't then something is binding inside the engine (carbon lock or blown apex seal) and a rebuild is in order.
