Hello guys, n00b here asking for a bit of light upon the different fc types

I looked for it in the archive but I couldn't really find it...
I am interested in getting a 2nd generation RX7 here in Canada, but i am not sure about all the different trim models and the different types! I've been reading about S4 and S5 which means nothing to me, can anyone help me out and tell me the different year and trim model for 2nd generation RX7 and explain S4 and S5 for me?

thank you so much!

S4 = Series 4
S5 = Series 5

Both are FC's and both are 2nd gens.

The differences are things like colour coded side strips on the S5, different Turbo etc. Someone else might be able to help with more specifics. Basically the S4 and S5 are the same car with a few cosmetic and mechanical changes.

lol, I am not sure about the meet as I've never heard about it before.

Anyways, so the different turbo in S5 is called the turbo II and by cosmetic change, you mean only paint or physical body panels?

No they are all called turbo IIs.

Body changes are the front bumper, all moldings, rear lights. S5s have factory skirts.

Electrically there were alot of changes.

The turbo on the s5 has a better wastegate and the S5 came with a factory boost controller.

We can fill you in on this and alot more if you come to the meet mentioned above. Check the Canadian Section for more details. You'll be able to physically check out the differences between 1st gens, s4 and S5 2 gens, 3rd gens and rx8s.

Here is a link to discussion of the meet, note the date change.
