HEHE while I'm in the mood for wired things to do to the car look at this.
O.K. this is totally not my idea but a freind had this idea for and N/A. Its like turboing it in a way just not with any real hardware. You know how you can get compressed air in a divers tank or such with like 200psi? Well he had this idea for this regulated compressed air tank like nos/super ram air/turbo. Hook it up to the intake and when you go down the track you flip a switch and instead of it hitting all at once like nos it lets it out like a turbo woul uping the psi for every second or so. We think this could work as some sort of super ram air. Think it could work? Getting the air is alot cheaper than getting a refill on nos. Tell me what you think.

You have to think about volume. not just pressure.
That tank would have to discharge at about 5PSI via a tube the size of the intake.
Wheres the valve that would work on that pipe?
Besides it would discharge in about 2 seconds.
Turbos could fill the size tank you speak of to about 8PSI once every 3-4 seconds.
Not gonna happen man.

Thats a good point. I was thinking it would have a longer discharge time but that will depend on how big the tank was and how much you were pushing through.

why don't you just get a big tank, mount it in the back, cut a hole in the back of the car, and when the light turns green just have someone knock the end off of the tank with a hammer, Thats gotta be atleast 3seconds off et.
OR just get a tank of nos, and have it release in the car, then it will fill like you going super fast.

Well, I find it impressive you're willing to try anything peacekeeper. Though, as stated above, volume is going to be a large issue. That engine will suck the tank dry too quickly, it has been thought of before. Keep thinking

Also one of the advantages of NOS is that because of the temp change from a liquid to a gas, it cools down the intake charge.

Strap one of those on your FC, and your ETs will be like 4sec!! Too bad there is no way to shut it off once you reach the end of the strip, and it would probally kill you, but you would have the fastest FC EVER!!! MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

I was actually thinking about this same idea last year for my 83. I did come calculations out. If you have a 5 gallon tank, it holds 5 gallons of air at 14.7 psi (1atm) but if you have the tank with 200 psi (68 gallons of air)and have a regualtor letting air out at 150 psi, .. for five psi of boost you would have to have the hose 2/15 of the size of your intake, ((14.7+5)*7.5=150). The time the tank drops from 200psi to 150psi you have released a total of 17 gallons of air
1.2 L engine 1 rotation of engine = 3 rotation of drive shaft, so .4L is used for one roation you see on your tach at 4k rpm it is 67 rotation/sec which is 26.8 L sec at 14.7 psi but for 20 psi you need to jam in 36L sec. 1 gallon = about 3.5 L so you need 10 gallons of compressed air to power the engine at 20 psi(5.3 psi boost) for 1 second
5 gallon tank of air will give you 1.7 seconds of 5.3psi boost at 4k of course if you are racing around 4-8k you might be looking at more like 1 second.
You will need a custom air tank probably 2*5 gallons with a large outlet, wide hi psi hose, a electricaly controled valve to release air from the tank via button on the steering wheel, and a pressure regulator
Now this whole thing is 100s-1000s cheaper than a turbo...less than NOS, how can you beat it? Only diadvantage is you will use up all of your air pretty often, but you can always get a small air compressor, they are like 10 pounds and could refill your tank while you drive normal or just go to the gas station open your compartments behind your seats and fill up each for your 5 gall tanks for free then go race someone!!
As you can see i have nothing better to do right now. If i messed up any math let me know. I know there are tons of spelling typos, i don't wanna hear about it!

ermmm.... why not use a high pressure tank like a scuba tank? They can go to 3000 PSI. I have a paintball air tank that goes to 4500 PSI. But why not just use NAWWS? I think it would work better. There is more oxygen in Nitrous Oxide than there is in the air. (33% vs like 15%)

This is because each rotor face displaces .6 liters, and both rotor faces fire once for every crankshaft rotation. So, apply the correction (divide by 3), and you come up with .425 seconds of boost at 4K. Hey, it's even worse than you thought!

What about fuel? With any air increase there has to be a fuel increase as well. An extra injector would have to be used and only come online when the valve on the tank is activated.

alright i messed up one minor thing thanks for the correction, but i do think this idea is a lot better than the ....air pump one hahahahahahhahahahahaahhhaahahaahha!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldnt putting a turbo or NOS in your car be WAY cheaper and easier then engineering, fabricating and testing all of your crazy ideas? If HP came that cheap and easy someone would have thought of how to do it already.
