Last year I decided to see what mine was worth just for kicks. I did the "detailed appraisal" and did it honestly, right down to the 235k miles, shitty paint, non-working a/c and engine that didn't run. They decided it was in "fair" condition and worth 1600. With a bad engine!! I tried again a few months ago and they had come to their senses and decided it was in poor condition.
Edit: Wow! 235k miles, base model, no options and fair condition and its still worth 2k. KBB def decided that they are worth more.
Also, no car appraisal system will compensate for modifications. Generally speaking they are worthless to the value of the car anyway, excpet in rare cases like our cars.

i believe that once a car is atleast 20+yrs it is considered to be antique......this also helps with the emmissions testing so we dont get completely screwed over for testing......
i was looking to move to pennsylvania and my step dad said that a car that is 20+ is considered an antique, then they do the tests differently.

Lets remember KBB, NADA, or Edmonds doesn't mean anything. Your car is only worth what the guy standing in front of you is willing to pay.

value/classics
All those car guides are just that guidelines. Any old car no matter what a RX-7 or a Vette will sell for whatever buyer and seller think they are worth. Eventually these cars will be worth something.
Most states require 25yrs old and classic insurance to get historic plates.
Some collector insurance companies take cars as new as 15yrs old, some want 20 or 25.
Some classic companies won't take RX-7's or Z's, such as Grundy.
JC Taylor will take RX-7's if they are 20 yrs old-had it on my '79 RX-7, I have American Collectors on my '88 RX-7, they will take 15 yr old cars.

Welcome to supply and demand. There is an increase of value in these cars because of growing popularity, plain and simple. The more people want the more they will pay to beat out the other guy. In 10 years they might not be worth 50 bucks but they might be worth 15,000 bucks. It isn't rocket science.
