Harness mounting points

Hey, I'm thinking about putting Schroth 3-point harnesses in my FC...has anyone ever done this? I know they're designed for mostly Euro cars, but I'm pretty sure they could be adapted. I have heard of someone mounting the top belt to one of the strut bolts - are the belts long enough? Right now I have stock seats, but I may be getting seats from an FD R1.

3 point? You already have a three point. Do you mean a 4 point? I don't trust those, you can submarine out from under them. 5 or 6 point is the way to go. It's best to install a rollbar for that however. I plan to eventually. Damn car stuff is expensive

install eye bolts to the floor behind and infront of your seat.

my friend is building an H22 accord w/ a T04E for fun. hes got sparcos and 5 pt harnesses. he has his rear seat out, and i noticed that he drilled holes in his floor, and used eye bolts on the "driveshaft tunnel, and near the sides, close to the rear door sill.

use really big, thick washers to prevent the bolts from pulling thru the floor in an accident. or just use some metal plates to reinforce the holes.

Go to www.autotech.com, under catalog, then shoulder harnesses. The Schroth harnesses are the only DOT approved shoulder harnesses. They're designed for European cars, and are available as OE on some Euro-spec BMW's (or so I've been told). The lap belts bolt in to the factory locations, but the rear strap is designed to bolt into rear seatbelt bolts. Obviously, I don't have a rear seat, so where should I put the rear strap?

Xcessive, your harness is installed wrong. See how those long strips hang down? That's bad. The strap is supposed to go through the bracket, then under the bar, around and over and back through the bracket. THEN, the long extra piece is wrapped over the frontmost metal part of the bracket and back through over the top. The way it is now, it's actually possible to get pulled out in a severe enough crash.
