Hard starting 88 Turbo
My car starts just fine 90% of the time, however others it doesnt. The car sounds like it is turning over but not getting gas. I put regular gas in yesterday, should I be using premium?
When it hasnt started like that, I pumped the pedal twice then gave it a little gas while turning the key, and it starts, but slowely. Is that bad to do to this car? Im really a n00b.
My girlfriends dad is gonna take it on saturday and play with it, hes a mechanic and just as excited about the car as I am.
Another quick question, I havent been able to find any of the specs of the car online if you could give me a good site to check that would be great. I tried nada, and a few others wanting to see the reviews, but couldnt find anything on hp, torque and the basics.
Thanks,
Mike

182 hp
183 lb-ft IIRC
keep using regular gas unless the car is modified. 87 octane is perfect for a stock TII. It could be having trouble starting for a number of reasons. Do a regular tune up first, with new plugs, wires, and fluids. If it still has trouble starting then it could be because of leaking injectors or possibly low compression. but always check the easy stuff first.

well check the faq at the top of the forum for specs on the car. as for your starting, its a fuel injected car, shouldnt be pumping the gas before u start it and if u have to hold the throttle open just so it will fire up that means somethin is not right. i would check ur tps, and make sure the afm is plugged in and functioning properly.

you can get that there. also the s4 doesn't have the automatic unflooding feature that the s5 does. i know that when i did my turbo swap the car ran fine and then after i removed the emissions then my car would start to flood. but don't pump the gas pedal it will only cause it to flood more. have you tried the unflooding procedure?
