half assed auto to manual swap

I have a 86 auto base. Since I don't have much free time and my 7 is my daily beater. Is it possible for me to install the manual pedal set, master cylinder, slave cylinder, and drive my car while it still has the auto tranny then install the manual tranny, starter, flywheel, clutch, and driveshaft later? Will my gas/brake pedal work? I just want to get all the little things done until I get enough time to put the tranny in.

yes I know this sounds stupid.....

Yes you can-- Though if you could set aside a weekend, you would probably have it done in that time anyhow. Be sure to show all your friends the installed pedal set with the auto shifter... I love that.

EDIT: BTW, you wouldn't be able to install the slave cylinder w/o the manual tranny. That is the one thing you couldn't do. Make sure to ***NOT*** fill/have filled the clutch master cylinder until you install the slave.

Otherwise the first time you tap the clutch pedal lightly, you'll cover your engine bay in brake fluid... YAY!

You can have it installed, just don't use it, or you'll push the rod right out of it.

Negative
"National Auto Parts" who is also ezfindparts.com is the worst business I've ever dealt with to date. Granted, this impression is only off of two calls, and an inefficient webpage design. I made my order Saturday night via online. I called monday to confirm the order, I got put on hold, then transfered to "Patrick D"'s voicemail. I called today to confirm the order, same thing, transfered to some ******* who is too ******* busy to answer is goddam phone.

Thats not how good businesses are run. If the guy is to ******* busy to reply to his voicemails (I've left two) then they need to restructure their customer service department so there is actually some ******* service about it.

I have a feeling this is going to end up with the BBB. Albeit I already paid for the part that I have no confirmation of even existing-- I'm still looking for the part from someone on the forum I can trust.

Ezfindparts.com Seems more and mroe shady everytime I call. The first time the woman answered "Hello, where can I direct your call." I asked to have the status of an order and she asked my order number, which she transfered me to that guys voicemail.

The hole situation is very frustating. I just want the ******* part, not to have to deal with a bunch of overworked incompetent customer-service reps who have customer-service the last thing on their agenda.

BTW, you could technicaly just mount it on the firewall, lol. It woudl be best to drain the master and just leave it out until you install the 5spd though.

The little **** like pedals and slave cylinder don't take long at all. It took me 11 hours total. It took longer for me because I had to modify the rear for a TII shaft.
