Alright, so I've been reading these things over, and I'll start with saying the things I want most in the RX-7 would be a black interior and no anti-lock brakes, meaning I'd be looking for a S4 turbo or a S5 GXL. The thing is, which would be harder to remove completely, the anti-lock brakes or the auto-adjusting suspension, because I want neither of those.

I think what I'm gonna do is find a 10th AE that's close to the end of it's life because maybe I could get one for cheap. That means a black leather interior that I want, possibly a manual steering, no auto-adjusting suspension, but I would have anti-lock brakes.

10th AE will have power steering. It had almost every option there was.

You know if you have your heart set on a black interior (I am not sure why, it is much hotter in the sun, and looks dirtier faster than any other FC interior), you can always change out the interior... black interior parts show up on ebay and in the for sale/wanted section here all the time.

i don't think that the black/grey difference would be that big of a deal...i thought my interior was "black" leather until i read this thread.

The reason I want the black interior is because I plan on having a white FC and the black interior goes very well with it. I don't know of all the colors of the leather interiors, but I'm pretty sure black would be my favorite one. Power steering won't be a big issue for me I guess, I could always put in a manual steering rack and everything.

All I'd be missing out on with a S5 GXL is the rear differential and rear axles, along with the turbo hood, higher RPM and tach gauages. The car comes with a black leather interior, so I'd be set there. Still kinda sucks getting the auto adjusting suspension, but the car wouldn't have anti-lock brakes though would it? But I would I still get the adjusting headrests with the leather interior? I might as well forget about trying to dodge the and power steering, cause I'm guessing almost al lthe cars came with it.

Alright, I'm getting close to buying a RX-7, and I realized it's not worth waiting around for years to find that perfect car for me. I would have loved to get a turbo with black leather interior, but it's just too hard to find a RX-7 for a decent price. I've found that it's just better to settle for something nice. I've found a 1987 GXL with grey leather interior. I would love to convert it to a TII, but that seems costly. The first thing I will be doing is removing the AAS and anti-lock brakes. I may remove the power steering also, but only if I get a manual steering rack for it. I've given up on trying to dodge the power steering and anti-lock brakes, because I'm sure almost all RX-7's have it, and there's not much I can do about that besides remove them. I've been looking over the turbo swap, and I'm wondering, what's the difference between the N/A and turbo engines besides the manifolds and turbo? Is the block and internals different? Also, I know the transmission, drive shaft, rear differential, and rear axles are different. Thanks for the help guys.

Geez, you are too lazy to do your own research, huh...

All FC3S NA 13B engines are 6-port motors.
The 6-port design extends from the intake manifolds into the front and rear side housings.
This 6-port induction system is supposed to help with torque across the RPM band.
The FC3S turbo 13BT does not have this 6-port engine; the 13BT is a typical 4-port motor.

The rotor compression ratios are not the same.
The NA rotors are higher compression ratios than the turbo ones - they are also different from Zenki to Kouki.

The oil pumps are not the same.
The 13BT uses the widest oil pump that Mazda makes - 17.5mm.
The NA 13B uses a narrower oil pump (15mm?), thus the turbo oil pump has "more capacity".

The oil pressure regulators are not the same.
The 13BT ones are rated up to about 70 - 75psi.
The NA 13B ones are slightly lower (60psi?).

The FC3S NA 13B has those nasty port inserts in the exhaust sleeve.
The 13BT's do not have any port sleeves.

Kouki 13BT stat gears and rotor gears are "ion nitride" coated.
Kouki NA 13B stat gears are "ion nitride" coated but not the rotor gears.
The ion nitride coating is a wear resistance coating.
Zenki parts do NOT have this type of coating.

The 13BT housings are supposed to have a superior coating on them for higher heat from the turbos.

Rotor weights are identical for year groups (Zenki versus Kouki), but the Kouki rotors are slightly lighter versus the earlier Zenki rotors...

Dunno what "Zenki" and "Kouki" means?

Just buy a white GXL with a black interior. Find a TII rear end on the forum and install it. Overall its not to hard. And I'm sure if your looking to modify a car the suspension and the like wouldn't matter all to much, as long as its in working order. Manual steering can be swapped in. If you're doing a LS1 swap don't use a 10th AE, it'll just be blasphamy and gross (sp?) .

Or get a white car and have the interior swapped or painted. Its not to hard and would be easier on your search.

Picky people .

Why do you people think that GXL's didn't come with LSD. They did just not the same as the turbo LSD. Though the n/a rear end probably wouldn't hold up to well with an ls1 swap or a turbo swap the gxl's did have lsd.

Wow, it's not gonna be worth doing the turbo swap then for me when I could just do a different swap. Also, that should say LT-1 instead of LS-1. It just doesn't seem cost effect to put in a turbo motor and run a low 14 when I could put in a LT-1 and run a low 12. Too hard to find a white GXL with leather interior around here. I think I'll be more than fine using a grey leather interior and if I really got ambitious to buy a black leather interior. I can easily deal with having a car that isn't white with no rust rather than buy a white one with rust and have to do body work. I plan on repainting it this winter and making it white and at the same time doing the LT-1 swap. Also, the GXL rear end will be able to handle whatever you throw at it with a LT-1.

Looks like to swap the interior, you need absolutely everything. I got a quick questoin though, do you have to swap the entire dash too? I know changing the dash is not fun at all. The rest of the pieces would be easily swapped though.

You could just buy the leather seats and the leather door panels, I beleive the rest of it came just in non-leather, so you could easily paint the rest including the dash, dDub I beleive did that. I'm sure you would want to get a new carpet, headliner, and a few other things would need to be painted (top of rear strut towers).

I doubt the paint is gonna match that well with the seats and door panels though, not to mention swapping an entire dash is a pain in the ***. Also, how would you paint the carpets and headliner?

In my post I mentioned that:

Carpet
Headliner
Sunvisors

Would have to be bought, some other things also, but I haven't done this personally, just going off to what I have been told. PM dDub, he'll give you a how-to.

Perhaps next time before running off your mouth and making clueless comments such as calling some one misguided, you should look at a Mazda parts book first... There you would have found that there are no black interior parts (other than standard trim pieces like the radio and gauge surrounds) ever made for the 86 or 87 model years.

Or maybe visit a webstore like Mazdatrix, and see if there are any black 86-87 interiors...

Either way it makes you look pretty dumb, when you make such comments.
ACTUALLY both our cars are totally stock except for some performance upgrades...i hate to tell u o-mighty-icemark buy i think u might be wrong on this one. i know for a fact that my interior is straight from the factory.

Edit: Oops looks like u were right icemark, my apologies. my interior is actually a very dark grey. i thought it was black all this time...

I guess I could always dye the pieces too in like a kiddie pool or something like that.
