Gt 35r/ Gt 35/40
Are any of you running the garrett gt 35R aka 35/40 on your FC? I am trying to research this turbo as I am considering it for my 88t2 motor into first gen project. I know there are loads of people on the Single Turbo section of the forum that talk about this turbo but from what I have seen, they are all third gen guys. I am interested on how it will perform on a stock tII motor. Another worry of mine is that in CA we only have up to 91 octaine gas. Most people running this turbo seem to run it at 15 psi. Will 91 octaine be sufficient? Will I be on the edge of disaster? I would rather have less power if I was pushing the brink of disaster. It's a new motor and I don't want to blow it if you know what I mean. If I was planning on getting this turbo and only running 12 psi would it be a waste? (incase I can't handle the 15 with 91 octaine). Is there something better to look into? BTW I will be using a microtec ltx8 to run the motor with sufficient injectors.
If any of you are running this turbo could you post your car's mods, how much boost your runnning on what octain and estimated hp?

I'm not running this turbo, but I can add a few things.
This turbo on a stock FC motor will perform very much the same as on a stock FD motor, pretty much true for any turbo. 15psi is fine on pump gas *IF* you have a good tunner. I run 1.2bar (17psi) on the street with 91 octane no problem.
Tunning is the key.
12psi certainly isn't the most efficient part of that turbo... which I belive is 15-20 psi but it'll work fine.
Sean with Aspec could give the best estimation of HP but with stock ports at 15psi I'd say you'll be between 375 and 400. Ported will put you from 400-420 depending on supporting mods.
Hope this helps

Yes, that helps a bunch, thanks. The big concern is reliablility and I plan to find a great tuner before I start pushing the motor. Good to hear your able to use those boost levels with 91 octaine
