A few more questions, are the 86's carbeurated or fuel injected, and how difficult/expensive is it to replace a worn rotor seal?
Thanks,
Steve

Allright, so I think I've been pretty much confirmed that this car will work for the challenge... I'll take a look at the Gen1's too... I'm more disposed towards the Gen2's just because they look really good. They have that boxy 80's appeal that tugs at my heart so much for unknown reasons.
I'm going to check out a few other car forums (for the AE86) and such, hopefully I'll be posting here a bit more, gathering information and such.
Once again, awesome, awesome forum you have here.

Peak torque on a S5 N/A is at 4000, S5 Turbo at 3500.
But remember that torque curve is almost flat from there to 5500 (6500 on a S5 N/A)

Welcome,
Check out Blake Qualley. He's become a regular 1st Gen participant in GRM's challenge. Perhaps the below links will interest you as well.
Good Luck!

He was telling me about a guy with an RX7 that liked to do a buck 30 on a little narrow road down there...
This wouldn't happen to be you, would it? His name is Tracy Williams...

There are actually quite a few FC's in Rohnert Park, mostly because Sonoma State U., is in the city.

Personally, I think a 1st gen is a better choice. Cheaper, and faster with equivelant mods (alot lighter).

Ok, good, I'm still hearing what I like. When I actually start looking for a car would this be a good place to look for a junker? I need to get in touch with one of the past competitors, get some first hand tips on junkyard hunting... jah.
Thanks!
Steve
