grinding gears

When I shift fast from 1st to 2nd (only when drag racing) I grind. Will changing my transmission oil to a full synthetic one get rid of this? thanx

I don't think so. Looks like your synchro's are bad.

No, the ratios between 1st and 2nd is too wide for WOT, redline shifts.&nbsp No amount of lubricants you throw at it is going to change anything.&nbsp You either short-shift, wait a split second for the synchros to do their job, or just live with it until you eventually break 2nd gear.

***I do not recommend this***

If you hate your trans you can speed shift into 2nd. My old TII's trans was so hashed the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts under boost could only be made with my right foot to the floor.

I still don't recommend this.

And what would you define as a "split-second?"

Say "one one-thousand" aloud. Where woud you say to shift? after you say the first "one?"

ALL DATA sjows something simular to a consumer complaint. It shows that the problem was more evident on a cold tranny. The recommended fix was to replace gear fluid with 80w instead of 90w.
i know its not exactly the same problem but maybe it will work.
