got my car to idle last night

ok so after putting a check valve on my BOV (which is vented to the atmosphere), and turning the afm right side up ... ( i think) the part # is now showing on top

it held an idle ...it stayed at 1500 rpm and i let it sit there for about 30-45 seconds and then turned the car off ... i freaked out and jumped around, but i went to start it again like 5 mins later, and it wouldnt idle anymore .. and this time the throttle would not go above 2000 rpm regardless of how much gas i gave it ... so i assume i blew a hose or something off, as some of them are not tightly clamped ...

reving up to 2000 grand and no more ... what does that mean ... i know ive read that symptom on here before, but i cant think of what the cause was

Sometimes the TPS sticks on my car and won't let it rev over 2000. But I have an NA, not a turbo.

Mine was doing something similar when it would stall, I cant figure it out yet. Only seems to happen when the car stalls, then I cant seem to get it running again.

does that sound reasonable though ... the blow off valve being vented to the atmosphere and not having a check valve on it being a big vaccum leak??

also what would cause it to not rev above 2000 rpm now ... im thinking i just blew something loose like one of the hoses on the BOV and or check valve...do you think that would cause it not to rev above 2000 rpms.. or do you think it would be the afm being the other direction ... cause i had it to where the "bee comb side" was up, and last night i changed it to where the part # was up top ... is that the way its supposed to sit?

Yes no check valve on the BOV will cause a big enough leak to cause a motor not to start especialy a rebuilt one.

Have you checked your idle stop screw yet? Also make sure your AFM is level as possible, it doesn't not matter which way you install it as long as it is level.

Next time you get it started let it run for as long as you can and grab some carb/brake cleaner and spray it all over the engine bay to check for more leaks

ok so the 2000 rpm thing sounds like limp mode from searching ... ill check the fuses and what not, and the sensor thats on the throttle body elbow, and hopefully that will keep me out of limp mode ... is there any way to reset the CPU??

if there is will it hurt anything if i do reset it?
