Come on now fellows I don't do drugs, I might smoke some crippys once in a while, but that would be it.
I just see all this car body and can't understand why I need all of it. In Florida you don't need doors, or roofs, hoods and of that ****. I just was looking for a good starting point for removeal of metal. My father told me when I went over there to cut the roof off. Now he is a crazy basterd, cause it rains everyday here.
I wanted to turn the RX7 into a dune buggy. I am going to pull out all the glass, replace it with plexiglass.
Once I get all the weight out, I will put some big fat slicks back on and a healthy shot of Nitrous.
But a diagram would be good.

Ok...so you have problem getting traction with your tiny tires...now you want to remove MORE weight. Perhaps you should try fitting a good-sized tire like a 245 or so in the back.... then try the N20. At some point you are going to completely ruin the structural integrity of the car.
Hey, maybe you should drive with your arm out the window...that should save some weight

Hey Jack, how is it going buddy?
Sorry the rain fucked up our racing.
How you like my car? Sounds pretty ****** beefy or what? You like those custom intakes I made?
We need to make some for you, so your car can be cooler under the hood.
Yes, I am thinking about cutting the roof off, but that would cause the doors to no longer open, I think.

1-the dash(mine anyway) is black plastic underneath once you remove all of the heavy *** padding from it
2- buy some plastic racing seats from summit
I think they are lightest of all race seats(what I have)
3-drag radials or slicks
4- no nos bump timing up a bit
5-just leave hood at home..LOL
6-what exhaust mods do you have?
7- 5tth and 6th ports working?
8- remove p/s,a/c,
9- get injectors cleaned (right way done on a machine)
10 -full tune up new plugs, wires etc...
11- my full intereior is gone door panels, carpet, etc
my car is no daily driver though..
12- nos kit is only way to go..use slicks or drag radials
and traction will be no problem...

I currently run 9.7 @ 73 MPH in the 1/8th mile. This time is with smokin the tires all the way through first gear!
I had dirt in one eyes and could only see out of one eye and still ran 9.7. I have also removed about 2 garbage cans of stuff from the car, so it should be lighter and faster now.
There is much debate about my Quarter mile times.
So I will post I ran the Quarter in 98 MPH, with no Nitrous!

You raced a TSI (turbo) and you have an N/A SE...What are you complaining about...Hell if you hung with him I think you did damn good...Those DMS's are fast....Boost control and a guage and they got some good hp

I think that if you take out all the liner on the inside it will be quicker. I have an old escort I did this too. It got a lot louder and a bit more peppy. All of the plastic and carpet kept the car cool and quiet. Now the car is always warm, from the exaust under the car and the exposed metal everywhere makes it echo.....

Why not get rid of the fuel tank and go with a fuel cell like the prostreet guys do? You can also cut out the inner fenders, but then you will have to make a tube frame type of thing for the shocks... Try looking in any Hot Rod or Popular Hot Rodding magazine at the guys with the one piece fiberglass front ends, see how they did their frame work, and there you go.

I am thinking of going on a metal removing spree.
I really have no use for any of the metal past the rear wheels, so I can just cut that **** right off.
I am thinking of keeping the gas tank for now, just in case I still go crusin.
I am going to reinstall my old NOS setup. It was good for a solid 75 HP
I am going to continue to use the 14" inch wheels, as they seem to offer the lightest and widest comb, which also gives the greatest amount of torque, being so small.

I know I'm a bit late but here I go. I was in the car with my buddy GLHS when we raced the DSM. First of all, he had me in the car and I weigh 240. When we started to race the DSM we were ahead of him by at least 1 1/2 cars. Then GLHS missed 3rd gear....I think it took about 5-8 seconds to get it in gear. By that time the DSM pulled on us, but then we caught him and smoked him. The DSM's girlfriend was riding in the passanger seat and had her hands on her ears because the rx-7's exhaust was so loud. It was too funny.
Good race. If he didn't miss 3rd gear and didn't have me in the car I know he would have smoked him.

Cut out the spare tire cubby and weld a metal piece to cover the gap. Remove your reinforcement bars behind your bumpers. That should shave off at least 40 pounds.

take off the roof, a/b pillars, all glass, doors, transmission, engine, axles, chassis, and wheels. basically, just leave a seat (which you could replace with a carbon fibre race seat) then put your *** on a huge slingshot and let'er rip.

I ran this GS-T at the quarter mile. He had Cone filter, intercooler upgrade and hard polished intercooler pipes.
They were talking mad **** to me, asking if I had a turbo or NOS, and that I would need it to beat this GS-T.
I had that GS-T the whole track till, I missed third gear and ran a 15.30 @ 98 MPH..

GLHS your car sounds plenty fast and plenty light as it is... You sound just like my friend who consistitly misses 3rd and slips it in 5th. I'll tell u the same thing I told him (note: he is my best friend/roomate so don't take offense to this) learn to drive Seriously I've done it too and it pisses me off too theres nothing worse than being in a close race slamming it in 2nd and then ur pulling on em hard then u slip 5th and its all over
I ran a 15.7 in my S% GXL with full interior including rear seats (jack and spare removed tho) and some heavy *** 17" rims in LIMP MODE (due to my dumb *** breaking the fine adj. TPS sensor doing the TB mod) so a 15.3 missing 3rd isn't that bad.
Also getting rid of the fuel cell will not save any weight it will actually increase weight because they are built to strong and safe witch also makes em heavy.
More info... the stock metal fenders really arn't that heavy at all, never weighed em but Iam almost possitive they are less that 7 lbs. each so fiberglass of CF fenders really would not safe enough weight to do anything and would be only be a way to waste some money... unless ur going wide body of course
More on ur dual 4" intake ducting, I would love to see pics of this and where u cut the metal from and ran the ducting because I wanna do this aswell.
