Going to the track soon..What kind of times do you predict?
We're having an RX-7 meet in a couple of weeks and I was wondering what kind of times I should expect to run. My car right now is just a Stock 86 Base model. I am putting a race pipe on monday though, but aside from that it's still stock.
Not really sure what times our cars run, but I'm kind of wondering what a stock S4 5speed with the race pipe would run Anyone with agood guess or a solid answer from like having run xx.xx or know a guy who has run xx.xx would be good
Thanks

Anything I should try to get for the car before the races to gimme a little more boost in power? Intake kit or catback? Kind of digging for stuff now hehe

One of those cheap Ebay cone filters helps and is worth getting. Do a tune-up and catch up on all maintenance . . . lower rear tire pressure to about 22-25psi, keep the engine cool at all costs. Get some practice launching. Driver skill is pretty important.

A race pipe meaning header?... make sure your ports are opening too and not frozen shut, mine were frozen shut, i taped them open with a hammer and wired them open and it made a HUGE difference.

well my first time at the track; I had racing beat full exhaust, and a k&n filter on a stock air box. everything else was stock my ports were stuck shut! I ran a 16.3 with a 1.06 reaction time!! Doh! hey like I said it was my first time Don' t fry me!! haha but I beat my buddies 98 integra vtec!! now everything is working, I'd expect my times to drop now!! I'm shooting for low 15's now after all that work!! I was told the closed ports will lose almost 30 horses on the top end? is that right? my car pulls a lot harder now, so we'll see!!

actually I beat that integra twice!! in the same night. but he couldn't drive!! he wrecked it before the end of three months!! Doh! he should have listened to me cause I had one before the Rx7!!

the first time my buddy took his stock 87 se to the track he hit a 15.86. Now he hits 14.8's with just intake, exhaust and headers.
another buddy of mine in an 88 se hit a 15.79 with a cone filter, wired open ports, and a bad exhaust leak.

yea that's what I figure. those ports work flawlessly now!! ha! had to make sure of that. now I got a electric fan, lsd off an 89/88 (? I forget) pineapple sleeves a new clutch, just about everything except porting the motor and manifold. I want to see what it will do without porting. oh and some real crappy tires!! haha j/k. the tires r ok. I'm hoping with a realistic reaction time and skipping the burnout box I should get the times down real nice like. ha ha. actually I hope to break into the 14's cause the lsd is a higher ratio so I figure the lsd alone would remove a couple tenths. we'll see.

Why is your LSD a different ratio?? All M/T coupe LSDs were 4.1, unless it was from a 89-90 GTUs, then it is a 4.3 (like I have ). Also, R/T has nothing to do with your E/T. You can sit there all day if you want to , the clock doesnt start moving until you start moving.

oh.. um... uh.... well I don't drag race. I just wanted to see what times I could get. so I don't know what e.t. is I always thought he phoned home. ha (sorry dumb joke). so R u saying I should take my R/t off my et? I don't know. I like road racing more so I don't know about drag so much. oh! my diff is off a 89 and it is higher (4.3) so I guess it's off a gtu? my car is quicker. that's the only thing wrong with these cars is that the gear ratios are crap (to me) I liked the close ratios of my old (95) integra better. much easier to wind those gears out.

If its a 4.3 its from a GTUs (the "s" is important..) Your reaction time is the time from when the light turns green to the moment you start moving (basically..) Your E/T is the time from when you "go" to when you cross the finish line. The reaction time has nothing to do with this time.
#23
You could sit at the light for 20 seconds and still run a 16@85mph. Although the track workers will probably yell at you
As for the original poster, Im going to predict you run 16.5.

ok makes sense. like I said I'm not sure of the model but it is higher so it must be a GTUs. sorry I really don't know about the models and specs too much. still learning. but I could tell you all sorts of **** about the 95 integra gsr! that's a great car too!! The at the limit handling is much better (none of that weird backend crap where it act like it's stepping out) I could drift my integra better than my Rx... not talking power oversteer!! more along feint motion.
#25
If you think the handling of an integra is better than a fc, you must have some really shitty tires and suspension problems. AND a car that has been beaten on through out its life. Since you are talking about drifting, I imagine it fits all of the above.
