Going to pick and pull, what miata do i find torsen
#4
I think some 94-95's are the ones you want if you're looking for a torsen that will swap into an NA pumpkin - I don't know if all Miata's those years have the torsen, or if those are the only years (I'm pretty sure none early than that tho)

found this:
and this:
94+ 1.8 Miatas use the torsen LSD. But not all of them, you just need to get lucky I guess Seriously though, I have no idea on how to tell if the miata will have the LSD or not. One method Ive heard is that if it is a 5-speed and has cruise control, it will have LSD. Im not sure how true it is, but every one Ive seen with cruise has had LSD.
and this:
Quote from the Mazda Motorsports online catalog.
"MM03-27-200 S DIFFERENTIAL, TORSEN 1 MIATA, RX7 1.8 DOHC, 12A, 13B 1994-02, 1984-91 $701.20
Notes: Stock 2-way Torsen limted slip differential from 1997 Miata fits all 1.8 Miatas and 84-91 RX-7. For those looking for 1.5 way Torsen, use part number MM01-27-200."

i got the same car you do but faded paint and its an 86....
i kno stockton pick and pull sux.
ill take a LSD rear end from anything i can get, but pick and pull hardly ever has rx7s, let alone GTUs or GXLs.

First, you want the rear from a 1.8 (1994+) as others have said. There were a variety of ratios used over the years.

Not easy, but it will help.
Your other option would be to call one of the Miata dismantlers - they'll know which is which.

Well if it's a really early radial where they bolted the crank to the plane and the prop to the engine, then it's a rotary, if it's the other way around then it's just a radial. They did this to get away with not needing an exhaust manifold and such(since they all exhausted at the same place and they just left it open).
A Wankel is still a rotary though.
