I just had a long conversation with Don. The original molds no longer exist. They were left in a barn in New York when the company moved to Charlotte NC. If we could come up with 1,000 firm (prepaid) orders it might be viable for a limited run. However it involves recreating the wheel . All the lmolds for the 2 frames have to be made, extrusions procurred etc.

So now I guess we have to explore acrylic.

1,000 orders? I don't think that's possible.

I'd be up for it if it was price reasonably ($400 for a sunroof is NOT reasonable!)

I'd pay $200 for one...I can't justify $400. Of course, there's always Mazdaspeed7's CF replacement panels, if painting isn't a problem.

Why is it so hard to create the original mold again if we go with something besides glass?

Why doesn't somebody in the area find out where the barn is and check and see if they are still there?

The saratoga kit consisted of a smaller support frame that was made of fiberglass along with some extrusions. The glass is only 1/2 of the solution

I just picked up a Pacific Sunroof exactly like the one pictured on that ebay auction, it will be on ebay within the next month, and like someone said previously in this thread, you only see one come along every 3 years, so get out your wallet

Check my avatar - almost 2 years old now - smoked 1/4" lexan - cost me about $60C and a couple of days work to rebuild and recover the headliner and refit the frame - works perfectly and looks pretty good!

I'm guessing the barn is somewhere in the Saratoga area. There has to only be a couple thousand to choose from.

Where do you buy big sheets of lexan?

It can't leak anymore than the old tin lid - it still has the full sunroof tray underneath with the drains at each corner - I can drive in heavy rain with the roof open in the lst position and have no water inside the car.

Is that the stock opening? It appears longer in your avatar.
