Question ghetto way of limiting boost..

Im going to be running full intake and exhaust when i put my motor in w/out upgraded injectors or a fuel controller...i may not get a FCD till i get the fuel to back up the higher boost, but my question is...could i limit boost by putting a *TIGHT* layer of duct tape over half the intake cone, therefor limiting the amount of air able to enter the intake stream? or is this TOO ghetto. Im the type of person who finds it extremely hard to resist staying off the pedal...

Port the wastegate really well and take the restrictor pill out of your wastegate line.

You still have that Walboro don't you? You'd be ok till about 9 psi if you rewired it.

Yeah, that's an OK way to do it, but count on covering most of of the filter- probably just leaving the inverted end cone open.
And of course, port the wastegate.

I would personally make something a little less intrusive.
I'd probably take the air filter off, cut a circle chaped peice of plastic the same size of the intake tubing at the filter.
Cut a 1/2"-3/4" hole in the middle of it, and tape that to the end of the pipe. Slip the air filter back over it and you're all set.

yeah, i still have the 'engine ruiner'

Can the wastegate be ported with a metal die grinder bit easily, or am i going to have to get someone else to do it prof. will the stock ports limit boost to around 9-10psi...or will i have to let off throttle before redline?

so basically a large plastic washer that cuts the air flow before the MAS

Exactly.

And you can port the wastegate yourself easily, unless you can't grind a very basic circle. I usually use a carbide bit for it.

why bother?? just leave the stock air box on. you won't see any gains if you add an intake and just block it off....

well I'm doing the same thing soon....whenever the RB turbo back gets here off of backorder. Do you guys think I'll be ok as far as fuel goes?

I have a series 4 turbo that has the wastegate ported to the max it can go on the stock flap.
walbro 255lph fuel pump
fcd

I'm leaving the stock intake and everything else on. Soon I'd like to get a safc and get everything to a dyno with a wideband o2 sensor...but I would like to know I'd have a safe set up before.

On my greddy egt guage, what temp should I start getting worried? It is going to be in the downpipe right next to the o2 bung....thanks for any replies.
