Getting rebuild s5 motor recommended mods??

Hey guys....

My engine bit the big one. I guess the rotary gods are pissed because i missed 7 stock. I've decided to buy a engine from rotary ressurection. I'm pretty sure i'm going with a street port with racing sleeves. My question guys is there anything else I need??? Remeber i stay in Cali so my ride has to get smogged. Actually thats got to be done in Feb. I'll more then likely place the order for the engine in the next couple of days.

well, since you mentioned getting your engine from rotary ressurection, i'd say just talk to hypntz7...since he owns the joint...i'm sure he will give you all the recommendations you need...as i'm sure if he's browsing through here, he'll throw in his .02 anyway...

FD corner seals? Two piece 2mm apex seals or 3mm seals? FD oil pressure regulator? OMP delete? Atkins Thermal Pellet?

Thats the stuff I can remember from my motor, so it's just some stuff to think about.

One cavaet on the FD OPR...

I don't recommend this on an FC3S 13BT.&nbsp 1) Rated at 100psi, it's really too high for an FC 13B - the motor will oil smoke more often, and 2) if you do insist on doing this, you need to "shim" the front OPR in the front oil cover to balance to oil pressure across the motor.

I'm just curious, what exactly causes oil smoke? What are the symptoms of it? I should probably watch for it.

Really, I wouldnt do the FD OPR either. These engines hold around 60-70psi above 3krpm all the time anyway, plenty enough.

Just let me know when youre ready to make a move. Im not sure if we've discussed the details such as core charges etc. but I stand ready to help out.

Thermo-Pelet fix, have the e-shaft oil jets changed with a #200 webber jet (this removes the check ball and spring), 3 window rotor bearings, and if you are totaly nuts get the super light weight racing rotors from Racing Beat!!!
