Getting Exhaust Built!!

Ok, I want to get a Custom exhaust done, and I have priced out all of it, but first, before I get any of it done, what kind of materials can I use for it, would all Aluminized Steel work? Or will I need all Stainless steel, or just a Stainless steel downpipe?

Also, I am sticking with dual muffler's, and my question is, how much of a difference is a straight 3inch exhaust and a 3inch exhaust to a y-pipe that taper's to 2 1/2inch?

And another question about the downpipe, should I buy one from an actual company that makes them, or get this guy to make one, he said he can make it out of two mandrel bent elbows and a piece of 3inch almunized steel(not stainless), does it need to be stainless?

This guy quoted me $930CAN for an aluminized steel system straight 3inch the whole way, with some stainless steel tips on the almunized muffler's. This is with the downpipe made by him aswell.

This is going on a 1987 Turbo II.

Thanks in advance for all the help

Christ, $930! I know that's Canadian dollars, but you can get a pre-made system for a lot less than that - hell, the full Racing Beat turbo-back system is $725 US retail price.

Where would I find this premade system for $930? Only full exhaust system I have seen was the rb one, and getting that shipped up here will be the higher side of $1500 when I am done..

I think I am going to go full 2 1/2" exhaust right now, because I allready have a 2 1/2" downpipe the previous owner put on my car, so I will keep that, and get the midpipe/y-pipe custom built for now, and get two muffler's, because I NEED muffler's, because mine have holes in them, so the guy is going to do it all for like $640, with the dual muffler's, which is pretty good I think, seeing as most muffler's are around $300CAN a pop, btw these are magnaflow muffler's.

Also, is there any little special things I should be getting done on the exhaust system when it is put on? Or will this exhaust just be a total waste of time, and I should get full 3" right now... keep in mind, with the full 3" I will probably need fuel pump/injectors and all that junk, and I am not quite made of money, so do you think this exhaust will be a good idea, and last me until mid-summer?
