Getting cold air to the intake (or) Creating a cold air box
I remember reading (a while ago) about making a cold air box to surround a cone filter. Needless to say, I am interested in doing this. Here's how far I've gotten:
-Hooked up a K&N 7in cone to the HKS plate thing(yep, it's an 88).
-Built a box (5 sides, no top) around the filter out of cardboard, leaving an opening of about 2.75 inches to slide the filter through.
-Used the cardboard template to make an aluminum box with the same dimensions/shape/etc.
-Made a top that fits on snugly to make the box sealed.
What I need to do next is:
Run some tubing from underneath the car into the box to provide cold air induction.
-or-
Cut out some of the steel near the headlight and run the tubing up to the front that way (clearly harder).
My question is, what kind of tubing should I use? I assume that the least restrictive would be ideal, but what is there that's smooth and still has about a 1.5 or 2 inch diameter (without having an exhaust shop make something)?
Any help here from anyone who has done it would be sweet.

Try to do both, or even add some scoop in the headlight cover, on the hood, everywhere you can... For tubes, I heard that you can use very thin alluminum ones, which can bend relatively easy, and you can squeeze them to go through any tight holes...
