Getting car back from Bodyshop

Ok guys i havent posted in a while and here's why.
June 20th, i got rear ended, while trying to get all the guy's info, he took off running from the cops and was thrown in jail. So i called AAA and got crap from them (oh we dont do that, call his insurance company) and that whole story. So i went through his insurance company (Western General) and they played games with me for a freakin month and then i finally got my money on like July something or another like 28th or something. My car was really messed up the guy came out and looked at my car and said 1400 dollars for the whole thing not including spoiler. (my spoiler was completely destroyed) Anyway i bought a spoiler from a guy on the forums THANK YOU!!!

Well, today i'm getting my car back from Maaco and i hope it looks really really good i'll post some more pics once i take pics of it, in the meantime i'll post pics of what it looked like before, you can partly see it in my avatar. Oh and by the way, my repairs cost me about 2000 dollars because i fixed up other things that the guy didnt pick up.

Enjoy

Too bad you didn't weigh the car beforehand- you could quantify how much Bondo MAACO slathered on.

It does look nice though.

Looks nice!

Maaco actually does some pretty decent work... I'm going to post pics of my FC as it's progressed to its final, Maaco-painted state soon.

yea i do wonder how much bondo they had to use because i found some in my spare tire compartment......like probably 4 ounces of it just chipped off cackling around back there. She looks great, a few minor things about the paint tho, 1. i got the cheapest paint possible 399.99 because this is DEFINATELY not expected to last, ima do this thang right when i have the money. 2. they oversprayed on my headers so it smells like **** when i get going, over spray on my oil cooler and lines (which sucks but no cooling problems so far) and sprayed my threads on my spoiler so the nuts wont go on, AND they didnt even bolt my spoiler down, they just kinda mounted it and left it that way.

So after i saw all that i was like, u know what i'm not having these guys touch my car anymore, fearing that it might explode or something

All in all, Bodywork: 9/10 (except spoiler) paint 5/10...

hahahaha my car was previously painted by, what i believe as maaco, but i dont know, the car was purchased painted. but i cannot find a slight sign of accident... hopefully it was cos the guy didnt like "mazda peeling white" colour, the car does have small dings and dents here and there, but talk abotu ******* over spray man!? lol i have drip spots on my mirror, everything has a mist of white, in the air dam... lol but like i said, i cannot find a damn spot of bondo on the car, cept my black hood cos it was a alumi hood with light dents that i took off, used maybe 1 oz of bondo.

too bad i junked my perfect mint, white steel hood on a car, cos i got no storage. but it was mint.. lol oh well no love for steel hoods.

Looks pretty good to me but im sure you can see any (if any defects) in person better. Tell me did you happen to catch what other options were, like you opted for their "400 dollar paint job" what were the more expensive jobs and what did they entail?

Also is that the factory crystal white ( i believe paint code UC) or is that a white you picked that macco had on hand?

Sorry if thats a bunch of questions but i just moved from my hometown for college and noticed theres a macco maybe ten minutes from where i live and I too have the shitty flakes flying off at 40mph crystal white paint.
Thanks
Matt

that actually looks better than what i would predict from maaco - it shouldnt even have a clear coat, it should be a one stage paint, but it looks great - it has more of a mirror finish than one stage paints usually have(if it is one stage, but it should be).......the paint will last as long as u need it if you wash it and then wax it at least once a month and clay bar it every once in a while - just dont buff it with an orbital tool because paint without clear coat cant take that - i will never recommend one stage paint places after my experience with one but the result looks nice so i give it a thumbs up : )

LOL guess what guys, someone hit my car at night last night so, its back at maaco............again............i'm hoping its as good as last time. It was 350 in damage, so ima get all that fixed up.

anyway to answer ur questions, yes the paint code is UC or something and they did use that paintcode for the original paint, i didnt use what they had on hand, they mixed it all for me so i had no problem. i'll post more later, pics and stuff.

The most expensive paint job you can get is like 1300 dollars, catalyzed bullshyt or something, with some clear coat, i dont know i just want it to look decent for 7stock this weekend but we'll see.
