"gen II"gasm

hey everyone, this is my first post on the 7 forum.

ive been on the rx8club.com forum for a while now, and while i love the 8, i cant get the idea of both a convertable and the gorgeousness of a gen II out of my head. in particular, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6327 this car looks really good. i would get it repainted of corse and the leather re done.

i am, unfortunatley, very unfamilar with this car. Im pretty sure that this is one of the turbo cars (it says FI at teh top) but i cant be sure, so if someone could help me out with that id really apriceate it.

also, could someone give me some of the performence specs of this car (or a link to a place where i could find them). thanks in advacne for your help, and i look forward to meeting you and becoming as familar with the 7 as i have with the 8.

ok so from the link sman gave me, i figured out that there are NO turbo convertables that came from the factory. since my plan was to buy an 8 new, and now im leaning more towards a gen II, that means that i got some cash to fix this one up. could i get a turbo II engine (from an FD maybe? or an FC (89+)) in this car with out too much agida?

ok so heres my next question....
what is the TII turbo engine?
which engine came in the FC?
which engine came in the FD?
can the FD turbo engine easily fit into an FC engine compartment with out too much trouble?

Fcs came with 13b (na) and 13bt (turbo)
then FD engine can NOT go into the FC's u would be better off just buying an FD.. thats how bad it appears to be (no i havent tried it, just from what i read, its not easily doable)
And the FD comes with 13b-rew -i think,
Read the FAQ it will answer a lot of your questions

First, read this. It may be of interest to you. https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...8&goto=newpost

Now. All US spec convertibles were nonturbo, 146 or 160hp depending on year.

To read about converting a nonturbo car (including stock verts) to a 13BT (using stock turbo II parts) read here. www.rotaryresurrection.com --> tech --> na to t2 conversion

To read about converting to the 13B-REW (the 93-95 TT motor) read http://fc3spro.com/TECH/SWAP/FD3S/rew.html

IF you have plans to do an engine swap, I recommend you find a blown engine car for cheap. IT is generally easiest, when doing an 87-91 13bt turbo swap, to use an engine from the same year as the car. 86-88 cars are called series 4, 89-91 are called series 5. The differences in the 2 are minor, but enough to make swaps between series a bitch. ITs like 2 nearly identical chassis with 2 totally different wiring/electronic setups...all the wiring, plugs, and pinouts have been changed around. There are also minor interior and exterior styling changes between series, but these are usually interchangeable between series.

Definitely check out my turbovert page (http://www.argentproductions.com/arbeit/rx7.php) and there are many others out there. The 'verts were never shipped as turbos in the US (from what I read every 'vert in japan was turbo). Do read the forum FAQ, there's tons of good info there. If you have any specific questions about the 'vert you can post it up and we'll get to it. If you want a good checklist before you buy an RX-7 you can check aaroncake.net for his "how to buy" links.

The 'verts are SLOW without the turbo. Budget a solid swap (rebuilt/ported engine, etc) into your plans from the get-go. That's NOT something to go halfway on. Plus you get the knowledge that you have a basically brand new engine (or more) in your vehicle.

This upgrade is far more time and money consuming then most people want to get in to. While a 20b rotary engine is alluring, it's not really worth the effort.

A T2 engine of same year model as the vert will mount perfectly and the vert ECU and wiring harness will match (mostly). A T2 engine swap is the way to go if you want more power.

Buy that vert! As of this post, 8 hours left and up to a mere $2750 - for a car with only 32K miles!
