Gauge cluster lights not working.

Ok, when I first bought my car the radio was stolen... Well I finnally went out and bought me a cd/mp3 unit for my car.. I installed and everything seemed to work fine.Go take my sister to work.. starts getting dark.. and I go to put my lights on. My cluster lights come on and quickly go off.. So I think.. crap I blew a fuse. I checked today, and a 7.5amp fuse was blown. I go and buy a new one. put it and.. and as soon as I put turn on the lights.. it blows. I am sure I didn't mix up the wires when connecting my unit.. if so my unit would have been smoking. I tested all wires.. and I had 3, 1st 12v constant., 2nd accessory power, and 3rd ON postion. I didn't connect the 3rd one because It wasn't need. Other then that every thing is set fine. What would be causing this? It all started after I installed my stereo, So I'm sure it has somthign to do with it.. but what?

Has anyone ever had this problem? What did you do to fix it.

I searched forums.. but that didn't help.

what did you hook the black/red at the back of the radio up too???

Probably you either left it bare or have it as ground (both of which would be a big no no and a good way to burn out your light switch).

and there is no ON wire at the back of the radio. Only 12V+, accessory, and speaker and turn on leads.

PS, You should have searched for "radio wires" or the like.

The black/red is not ground!!! it is the lumination output from the light switch.

Do not turn you lights on until you fix that, or you can burn up your light switch (as well as blow fuses).
