lol........if you get anything worse than 17 mpg you should be very concerned. The factory EPA rating was 17/24. I don't think most of us drive in the cities every mile. Also, I know mpg isn't going to be that high, but it should be close!!!

The "EPA ratings" (for any car) should be taken with several 50 lb. bags of salt.
Most of my DD's mileage occurs below 50MPH and over the past year she's averaged 15.9 MPG (yeah, I keep track of every gallon)- which I think is pretty damn good.
The couple of times a years she's freed on the highway, mileage goes up to 25-26 MPG- again, not bad.

Let see right before I BLEW my engine I was getting 21 MPG with mixed HW & City driving. Like I said earlier in the post, I got from Portland to Seattle and back on one tank of gas and that's no BS either. I think that the factory set EPA aren't very accurate rather an average that should be followed. Either way 15.6 you drive very spirited.

and like i said before, a buddy from "themazdaforum.com" told me to stick to 2 cycle, as it was made for for the rotary engines. anything else, and you'll damage the engine.
but i believe there are other alternatives...

no, i was talking about lucas fuel injector cleaner as you are. a forum member here said he was running the stuff in his car, as he was told by his friends that they've been running it for awhile. so i thought i'd ask you how has it been since you started using the stuff. any issues or problems?

If you are below 3800 rpm (I believe this is when the aux ports should be open) cruising on the highway, then your lack of back pressure has nothing to do with your gas mileage.
I would be replacing the 02 sensor. Also, check your timing, and your air filter.
Do the normal things, air pressure in your tires, new plugs, new wires, etc.

I'm getting close to 20mpg w/ mixed hw and city driving w/ my 86 N/A. EPA gas mileage estimates are bs. Those numbers are achievable (if u drive like a grandma ALL the time), but most ppl don't drive like that.

Mixed city and highway. I agree that most full cleaner stuff is crap, but I can't say that for the redline since i acctualy saw the improvements since i calculate my mileage everytime i fill up. Also dumped some in my gf's honda and it went up also. I've tryed lucas and it went from like 15mpg to 16mpg lol.
I should also mention that my MPG while city and highway is also mixed in with a bunch of redlines. I notice sometimes the harder i drive my car will get better mileage.
