gas gauge

While driving yesterday my car died hoping that it was just that i ran out of gas i quickly called a friend to bring a gas can, luckily that is all that was wrong. This prompted me to ask if there was a simple way to fix my GAS GAUGE, all i know is that when i fill it up its FULL, but when it goes down a little from FULL, it's EMPTY. Now my gas is not necessarily gone that fast i just cant tell where the gas is at.

Hopefully i didn't make that to confusing. Any information would be helpful.

thanks again, billy.

my car is a 88 GXL RX7

mine falls to empty when it reaches about half. it was suggested to me that i open up the fuel pump access and check to see if the level senders floater had any gas in it. i haven't gotten around to it. but you might want to try it too.

I just Installed a new Float sender yesterday...
It seems our Fuel Float sender unit Is less than accurate and gets worst overtime as was the case with me.

About a month ago, my Low Fuel Sensor stopped working all together. This prompted me to buy a new unit all together b'c I rely on premeasured premix 2 stroke oil.

It turned out that you can buy the Float/Low Level Sensor as one part. FB01-60-960B.

How much was the piece that you bought, and was it pretty easy to install? I am very new to the rotary club and dont know much more than the manual i have read a couple times has taught me.

Thanks for the feedback.

With my discount @20%, I paid $79 can. It's actually very easy to remove. Four 7mm bolts total.

Be warned, the 8 screws that need to be removed, from the Fuel Pump Lid, are a real nightmare If you don't take the necessary precautions to remove them. Might be rusted to crap!

Definately spray the crap out of those 8 screws on the fuel pump assembly for like a week before you even touch them. Its not fun to strip those.
