Gas fill return line?

On my gas filler neck for my 1990 gxl there is a return hose, its in the metal part of the filler, were the flap is....wtf is it for?

physics. Ever try to fill a tank without a breather? Its just ventilation so the gas doesn't spray back at you while you're trying to fill the tank.

so if im careful can i remove it?
with the widebody i need to run another hose there to properly connect it the new cap.

k i think my post above doesnt make sense.....i need to run a new main hose, so can i just forget about the breather and plug that pipe? or do i need to connect a new breather hose?

You're going to need *a* breather. Go do this, take a 2L bottle and fill it with water. Put it upside down and time how long it takes to empy.

Now, take the 2L bottle, drill a whole in the bottom. Plug the whole, fll the bottle with water. Put it upside down and remove the bottom plug. Now see how long it will take to empty.

i totally understand ur example without trying it but it did help me figure out what was going on.

So i can run the breather hose to the outside of the car and let it vent into the air when filling up right? and just plug the hose when driving.?
