Fuel system problems - a couple questions
Hi,
My 88 N/A is a little funky. When accelerating, the car seems to get spurts of energy until about 3000 when it just flies. The previous owner had receipts for a fuel system clean, fuel filter, and new intake manifold. Could this be an injector problem? Why would it only be on part of the powerband? Do you think that because it is only on part of the powerband that a gas additive like fuel injector cleaner would help at all? Or should I just have them rebuilt? Could this be an exhaust problem, like part of the system is clogged? Thanks, Todd

Could possibly be something as simple as a dirty throttle body. Take it off and clean it out - it's fast, easy, and free to do, so it can't hurt. This is the very first thing I would check before spending money on other things which it could be.

On a different note, how far can I go with gutting the stock exhaust before I fail emissions in NJ? Thanks, Todd
