fuel pump help
Hey, I just bought a 87 Turbo II and I was wondering if anyone could help me. Does anyone know if, when you turn the key on should you be able to hear the fuel pump. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I believe when key turned to on pump does not run. The pump will run only when the key is in the start position, or the engine is running. Just an FYI-There is an open connector on the right side fender by the afm. If you jump that connector, turn the key to on, the circuit is grouned and pump will run continuously. This is how you prime the system if it's been apart for any reason.

When the key is turned to IGN, the pump will run for a few seconds until the ECU decides that the engine is not running.
You may hear this, you may not. The stock pump is pretty quiet. But if you have an aftermarket pump, you will hear it as most of them are pretty loud.

ok this connector, is it the white one with six connectors in the plug or is it the green one with the two prongs that are perpendicular to one another? the white plug only has 4 wires that are connected in the plug..
A-C-E
B-D-F
only C,D,E,F have metal prongs in them. A and B are empty. Which two do i bridge? thanks agian

ok, does anyone know what the voltage specs should be on the connetor that the fuel pump plugs in to? (about a foot away fron the fuel pump) A-B
C-D
I have traced the schematics out and wired the fuel pump up correctly. Currently I have full power (12v) to A, on B, I have a pulseating charge or maybe a restricted charge of about 6v or something. D is a ground and I am pretty sure that C goes to the sub-zero. Should I always have constant power to to A? If the key is on then the A wire always has power and nothing changes by bridging the that connector. I still have been able to make the fuel pump run, but it is a new aftermarket pump that came with my car. i sure that fuel is the only thing keeping my car from running, so i cant wait untill i get this pump problem figured out. thanks james

The fuel pump plug on the pump side has a Black/White wire. It mates with a large BLUE wire from the harness plug. That is the feed wire for the fuel pump.
The other wires are for the fuel gauge or the ground wire for the pump.
The Blue wire only gets power when the key is held to Start or the engine is running. The one exception is if you jumper the two socket, yellow in color plug located near the right hand strut tower. If you jumper that two socket yellow plug, and turn the key to ON, then the fuel pump WILL run if everything is wired stock.
