Fuel filter clean or dirty?

How do you tell if the in tank fuel filter is clean or dirty? I already have the pump and filter out of the car.

Also where should you spray the carb cleaner on it?

Most of the time you can't tell! Though if its really bad there can be chunks of stuff on the filter or the gas will leak very slowly out of it for DAYS.

ANYWAY. The part you spray with the cleaner is the yellow/orange mesh cylender.

I did that and it fixed the problem . . . temporarily . . . its not as bad as it was, but I still loose power for a SHORT time around turns and the car gets pissy when I only have less the n 2 1/2 gallons in the tank.

So much for racing on an empty tank.
