Fuel Cut Defensor
I'm trying to decide whether or not to put one in. I already have one, and i've asked someone whether or not I should; but I want to double check.
Here's some pics:
FCD:
Where it goes and intake:
I Bought the car with these mods:
Intake & K&N Filter
BOV: Brand Unknown
3'' Single downpipe with Cat and 5Zigen muffler
These probalby dont matter but: New Flywheel, stage 2 clutch, wheels and tires.
I'm running 10 psi, I've got a stock turbo, and I'm about to install a boost guage too.
I want to know if you guys think its safe for me to install the FCD.
Thanks!

I tested it out to see if it worked, and it maxed out at 10 psi..
Another question/problem: At about 5-6000 rpm, my psi reading drops from 10 to 9.
I know its running higher than stock psi, but its because I have an exhaust. At least, thats what my brother tells me.

the reading of 9 as you approach redline is probably correct. The stock turbine simply cannot keep that much pressure at that RPM. You are going to have a slight drop in most cases on the stock turbo is you are boosting more than stock.
Your brother is correct, you are running higher than stock psi because of the exhaust and intake.
Running 10 psi I would say its not safe to run the car WITHOUT the FCD. You should have hit fuel cut by now...

Well, my brother says its not normal or okay that its dropping down..
He says its either because the CPU is limiting it, or it needs more fuel. (It should be able to run around 20 psi, he says).
Why do you think the FCD would make it safer?

Like has been said before already, if your actually running 10psi then you must already have a FCD, or worse, your boost sensor isn't working properly.
12-14 is where you will start running out of fuel and killing your turbo by over revving it.
Hitting any sort of fuel cut is baaad mmmkay, especially while under boost, also if im not mistaken fuel is only cut to the rear rotor not the front, this is also bad.

can't push hard enough to do that, so the pressure begins to fall even though flow is still increasing.

Oh, but the answer has been read by you several times I think.
So, you tell me whether you question has been answered. And just so you know, if your factory boost guage goes up pretty high, then the boost sensor works fine.
NZConvertible
Then you already have a FCD somewhere, probably wired in at the ECU.

You can't run over 8.6psi without an FCD, so he either has one or his gauge reads high.

then again, maybe it is his fault. some people don't take the time to educate themselves and just spit off questions without doing any research.
and why the hell are these servers slow. i have to wait 3 minutes for my reply to go through

The answer is this if your gage is correct and you do hit 10 PSI while driving the car then NO because you have FCD already somewhere or your fuel cut is not working properly (I've never heard of the last one though). But if your gage lies and you are not hitting above 8.6 PSI then YES install FCD and replace the gage too. That is assuming that you tested the turbo by driving the car and mesuring the boost.

I am very aware of what a FCD does. I know what i'm doing.
I'm not an ******* idiot. I made this thread to make sure that I wasn't going to blow up my engine or turbo- so don't act like I did this because I was lazy. I already had an opinion. I was just double checking.
I'm glad you guys are so friendly.

DUDE! i'm sorry you quite obviously did/do NOT know what a FCD does!
If you were/are running 10PSI then you already have one. So, do you need another one? No.

Simply stated: It doesn't matter how well you understand the FCD, just tell us what you think it does.
