fuel and air fuel mixture is not right
i got a 1988 rx-7 and it burns way to much gas. u can just smell the raw gas from the outside. can anbody tell me were to begin checking.

Above all, MAKE SURE you are NOT smelling a fuel leak in the engine bay. Pay particular attention to the fuel pulsation damper. If you have a leak, FIX IT NOW.

Running rich doesn't smell like raw gas... its an eye burning, nasty funk semi gass smelling noxious rx-7 fart.
you should smell my Portet TII running pre-mix.... YEEESH........I reek of exhaust if I screw around too much with the car idling in the garage!!
If you are not leaking fule in the engine bay and ARE in fact smelling your exhaust, AND if that exhuast containes no cats and high flow mufflers... there's your culprit. Just the nature of the beast.. especially i high mileage beast.
Also, N/A's with open exhaust systems tend to run rich, an SAFC is the most cost effective way to combat this (assuming that eferyting else is working correctly and its just normal RX-7 ruchnesses-- es.)
