I did google one of the numbers, and it linked it to a CDM 1550, which is a police radio that Motorola makes. But that was a head unit, maybe this is a reciever of some sort? Perhaps at one point a cop owned this car? Or drug trafficers? Who knows.. The car has only had two previous owners, a father and son. Maybe I could give the son a call, ask him if he's in the drug business??
Or maybe it was one of those big brick style mobile phones? This car was around 25k in the 80's and 90's, extravagent people had mobile phones back then...
Hazard, all the numbers/logos are in the photos.
Didn't want to have to trace the wires, as they are routed VERY well. As in I'd be tearing into door sills, carpet, dash, etc... But I will have to anyway to remove it. Just kind of wanted to know if anyone was like "yeah, thats a .......".

I believe I have something very similar under my back bins too. I noticed it when I put in my pinion snubber. I will take a pic of it and post it, it did say something about Motorola on it though and like 3w (3 watt) or something. I thought I was the only one.

That's weird that goggling it doesn't come up with a single thing, that's rather suspicious, then again it could be something that's been there since the early 1990s.
Wonder if it's a preamp for an old stereo or maybe someone hooked up a car phone that feed into the speakers, otherwise, i'm guessing something to do with ham radio or police radio. I doubt it's a Lojack, too many connections. If you unplug the amp connector, do you notice anything that has stopped working in the car, specifically with the stereo?

This is indeed strange.... I'll have to try un-plugging it and tracing where it goes.... The fact that 1sweet7 has something similar made by Blaupunkt makes me think it's something to do with the radio... But three watt output seems a bit..... dismal... And the connector is really large... Seems like a lot more than speaker wires...

I'm pretty sure those are both old-school car phones. The kind that you hang up in the car. Most of the 1st cell phones were made like that...the dialer/handset was mounted on the dash, and the brains/ transmitter would be under the seat somewhere.

some radios are similar as well with the multipiece especially ford radios there are three different radio options for my explorer one has the radio and amps in the rear cargo area with everything run to it , and then fed back up the floor into the reciever or control panel in the dash , then there is the normal radio option , and third is the radio itself is in the dash but external amps are in the rear with wiring run to both the amps aswell as the radio , yet only speaker wires go from amp not the radio. I have the third option but only found out after i wired up my gt 42 and 28 , there was no music , wrong wires ha(not my error the the other two options arent listed even for us mobile audio guys )

Reminds me of the hunter safety course I put on in a senior's fun centre a month ago.
A kid asked to call his Mom to come get him, but. a rotary dial phone? He'd never seen one, nor had his buddies.
