Just the fact that you are contemplating making payments on a POS like that is bad news. I would never get into debt for a car in that condition.

Sounds like you can't even afford the car, let alone the cost of reversing that cars condition to non-POS status...

I would definately look into how much it will cost you to get that thing back into ok shape. Then take that out of how much he wants. I would never pay 2500 for that car. I can get another A.E in much better shape for 3500 right now and it just needs a oil feed line replaced.

hehe no thats tape with red stuff in it, but im fully capable of bringing it back to good shape with less cost than it would normally take.

i can reuphulster quite easily and i have alot of extra parts around, so the cost to bring it back up to par is very very minimal for me.

and i would pay him like $300 a month or something along those lines, i will def try to talk him down WAY down, be he is in a money bind. so i could make him wait.

I wouldn't even touch that 10th AE for $2500. Check out my old thread and search under "fire" and my username. I got my 10th AE with PD fire for $900 and it is in way better condition than that one.

Dude, don't be stupid. I payed $1000 for an 88 TII that was in much MUCH better condition than that car. Why do you want to spend another GRAND for the fact that it's an AE?

its the only TII in the area that i have found thats mildly cheap(says alot about my area huh?), the fact that its an AE just makes me want it more because its like a special club

but if i can find a TII thats cheaper i will drop this one

Find one out of area...It looks like that fool hit somthing and then drove into a river with it. I give it a few more months (if it already isnt all over the car) for rust to appear everywhere. Just wait....Sure I paid 7k for my AE, but everything on it is perfect and it has over 10k in mods + fresh rebuilt motor. That isnt even worth rebuilding...

thats just the problem this has been the best deal i have found on a running TII, and extending my search into almost other states is very impractical for me. yes i have looked the only thing i havent tried is the state auctions and those rarely have good enough rx7s there, most of them are siezed for drug use and the cars interior is all ripped up, and unuseable.

its jsut whats best around here and its a pretty bad selection

I'd give him $500 for it, because you know it's going to take $2500 to get it right. If you've got the time & money, go for it.

Print this thread out for the seller to show him he's way too high.

Then be more patient. If you buy that 10th AE, you'll be kicking yourself when theres another TII up for sale for the same price and in 5x better condition.

I would know since I bought my '87 TII in a rush and regretted it. I then went and bought an '88 10th AE for $900 and am now rebuilding it. So I know everything will be like new and it will be done right without breaking the bank.

thats a parts car! too much to fix for it to be worth it, the damage on the front there is alot of work..
The only way I'd buy a 10th ae is if it was in good condition, especially the interrior and exterrior, those are the hardest parts to replace IMO. Engine work, well for me, is the fun part. As long as it runs, and compression is good, I love fixing up and shining up the rest.

You sound like you've already talked yourself into this AE, no matter what anyone tells you. If you are like me, you'll only learn by hitting the brick wall at your own pace. Hard lesson is on the way, but such is life................

yeah true, but after realizing that i could do it for so little other than the cost of the car i have pretty much decided to do it.

cause paint job and body work $150
upohlstry(sp?) however much the fabric is
and rebuilding engine like $500
Misc. $500

so to me the high price of the car doesnt matter much cause i can do the rest of the stuff so cheap its not even funny.

OH and if you were selling a car for $2500 and i flash about 1 grand in $20s at you, would you change your mind about the price at all?

I can get paint, fenders, and prep material at COST, and I still couldn't pull of the body work that car needs for less then 600-700 dollars, to do it near right... Do you work for Dupont and Mazda or something?

Rebuildling the engine too is like another $700+. Thats with a gasket set too.

Anyways, you need bare minimum $2500 to get it done "right" and not some quick fix. Thats assuming you do every single piece of work too.
