Follow up on all hard shifter bushings
Okay I swapped out the shifter bushings on my friends GTU with using two bottom kits (white/hard bushings) instead of the white bushing on the bottom and soft/rubber/blue bushing on the top.
And although the shifter is much tighter, it's feel is much nicer as well. Very simular to rock solid feel of the 944 shifters.
The shifter does tend to stay in place however. For example if you leave it in neutral between 1st and 2nd it does not move to the default position of neutral between 3rd and 4th, even if the return spring is still there.
The effort though overall does not seem to have increased.
Now I havn't checked long term effects, but based on everything so far, I will probably swap out the soft upper bushing on my 'vert for a white one as well.

But good to know that it has worked fine for you.

I did it with 3 different transmissions, one had no return spring and it would just lay to either side, one had a return spring and acted like you say, and the one I have now will return from the 1-2 side, but not as well as from the 5-R side.
