foglight bulbs...H3C

hey just wondering where if anything do you guys pick up your replacement bulbs for the stock foglights? i know they are H3C bulbs and they sell some on ebay. but i think i might trust a forum member much easier than the ebay peeps. let me know if you guys have a place close by.

H3c bulbs are a little hard to come by. I use plain H3's for my fog lamps you just have to do a minor amount of rigging (a piece of wire and a spade connector). That way you have lots of manufactures to choose from and all the bulb colours that go along with it.

I've been searching for these bulbs for a year now, other then the dealer, the only place seems to be the internet.

Hadn't seen them on Ebay yet, if you get a chance post the link for me so I can check them out

There are a number of 'e-tailers' that sell them, the prices and the brands vary, the last place I found was selling them for $65 a pair, seemed a bit steep.

There is a place called 'Maclin" online that sells them,

http://www.shopatmackin.com/whith3cbul.html

or this place:

I haven't decided where to order from yet...

$27 for one H3c bulb!? That's ridiculous.

You can get a quality set of H3's for about $30 a pair. Or, if you want to spend the extra you can get a set of Raybrig or Razo for about $65.

the stock ones are over $20 from the dealer.

use H3
just don't go over the stock rated 55w (probably what above guy did, although there shouldn't be any current in the switch anyways)

Compared to the dealer at nearly $30Cdn ea., I thought that the Classic Garage at $10.96USD ea. was a pretty good deal

Does anybody know of the regular shops like Schucks, or Pep Boys that sell them retail? Next time I'm south of the border I could buy them and bring them back...

Otherwise I guess that I'll have to order them through the internet.

Has anybody been ticketed for the yellow ones?, I read that they are only for off-road.

Thanks,

Many cars come from the factory with yellow foglights now, I don't see why they would be illegal.

I ordered them...

Well, I took the plunge and ordered them from the guy on Ebay, the price was good and he has a ton of positive feedback...

I felt like taking a bit of a shot, got to step out of that comfort zone once and a while

make sure you redo your wiring with the 100 watters. The stock is only 55 you know. I've heard of alot of people burning the stock wiring with those.

Thanks for the heads up Rattaan, I had heard of problems with the 100w bulbs so I contacted the seller and arranged to have 55w bulbs substiuted instead.

Here in Canada the fog lamps in the 1991 RX7 are used as 'daytime running lights' so the 100w bulbs would have probably melted the housings!

I found some 55watt "driving" lights at Wal-Mart at $14 for a pair.
They have a wide beam pattern, so they are lousy as driving lights, but GREAT as daytime running lights.
They also don't block the intake duct.
