Terrh,
If you do go with a Big/gigantic turbo you will need a large ic the two stock TM will not work for a large turbo, with a large turbo and the proper feul you would be able to run 25lbs and the two TM would not support that kind of boost. however i do think for those with small hybrids or upgraded compressors this is the best way to go!

hmm... well
as they say... power costs money... how fast do you want to go?

I'm still not sure if I want to turn this car into a giant 600HP monster or if I want to just be in the 280+ (at the wheels) range and get a second project car (probably a 944na or something) and dump my money into it instead...
a pair of top mounts will probably be sufficient for now

The top mounts are fine. Look at jreynish's flow/cooling test results. His diesel ic was barely any better. There was a very small pressure drop on both ic's. For the price, its very good. If you want to run 25lbs of boost, well duh you have to run a larger intercooler. Im going to have two welded together once my welder gets back and find somewhere to have them flow tested.

dr0x,
those tests are very primitive but do show good results at low boost and temps however it is a well known fact that the higher the temp the more pressure drop. But i could not simulate higher temperatures without endangering the thermostats... So i know that the larger ic IE Power stoke or Dodge, would no doubt handle large boost at high temps ALOT better than the stock TM's will. but you are correct at low boost almost any IC will do the job it is when you start cranking boost is where it get trickey. I wish i could setup a system that can test way higher temps but i don't have the money for those kind of thermostats! I WISH I DID!

The powerstroke will handle 35psi easily. I already know that. However not everyone plans on going a full to4 turbo or whatever. Like I said, Im going to get one done up and have it flow tested (if I can find the proper equipment). Even so, if terrh plans to go on a big turbo in a year, what about just having the 2tmic's until then? IMO, its a good investment even if you only keep it for a year. It can always be resold.

One of the reasons im shying away from the diesel ic is because, like i said, not everyone will have a huge turbo. I dont want to sell someone a setup that they dont need, it will just make more lag than necessary.

well that is the reason i don't think i got a good response in the idea of me making kits. as i do have a large turbo not everyone does. But the two FMIC's would work great wiht a litlely modded fatory turbo. That is a good idea i wish thaugh that i could get my makeshift cooling/flow bench to work more accurately. Maybe next payday! lol
