FMIC debris protectant screen. Where to find them??

I have a road trip coming up in April and I have to drive the 7. I know all to well about the road rash I am going to face traveling from CA to Montana. I do not want my intercooler to get trashed. I have driven this route three times before in other vehicles and you are exposed to a lot of semi's. They chew up front ends with rock debris.

I want to know if there is anywhere I could get some nice quality radiator screen or mesh that will allow good airflow so my radiator behind my front mount won't suffer.

Teds website had a link to an aftermarket radiator company that was reasonably priced and they offered the protectant mesh. fc3spro is down today for some reason though.

Anyone used this? IS it effective or does debris traveling @90MPH go right through it?

I don't want to epoxy this **** to the backside of my front bumper and find out it is useless.

Thanks Guys.

make one. can go to a hardware store and find something with large enough holes to breath but small enough to keep rocks out. What about some window screen material even?

Ive had window screen behind my bumper for as long as Ive had the car and its still in tact and seems to be doing its job. Not sure how well it breaths at high speeds with it having such small holes, but it seems to do ok

If you got the money, do it the right way and resist the Home Depot Racing route...

Paying double what it's worth because it's from an "Auto Racing Supplies" store is not what I call "the right way". I call it the way for suckers...

You're entitled to your opinion...

This stuff is stainless steel.
If you want to mess around with cheap galvanized steel mesh available from any home improvement store, be my guest...
I personally can't find stainless steel mesh for this purpose locally very easily or cheaply.

That's not my point. Buying wire mesh from a racing supply store is just dumb. You could get the same stuff from a manufacturer or supplier for much cheaper. SS is just overkill anyway. A shiny SS mesh grill would look sinfully ugly on an FC, so it'll need to be painted. The same paint job on galv mesh will give it more than enough protection and be much cheaper than heavily marked-up SS. Apart from the ugly comment, this is not just my opinion.

The stuff on my car is probably similar to what you can get at a hardware store, but I got it from work and we buy if from a supplier. I'm not sure what you think my "cheap" galv mesh is going to do, but I can assure you that after more than three years on my daily driver, it's still in excellent shape.

I'd agree with NZConvertible on the painting. Glav. mesh with a nice coat of Rustoleum black would not only hide the ugliness of the mesh grill but would protect the steel as well.
