Flywheel problem.

I got a Tweakit flywheel for an N/A, and a new ACT HD SS clutch, and I took it to the mechanic, and after getting it on, he said that the offset to the clutch is incorrect. What went wrong here ? Wrong part sent ? Or could it be lack of knowledge of use of counter-weight at mechanic ? This is REALLY frustraiting because I paid like $260 for the flywheel, AND the labor to get it put in.

How "incorrect"?
As long as it clears the release fingers in the release position, you're OK.
As I remember the spline cut in the input shaft is maybe 1/2" longer than minimal.

I just called the mechanic. He told me the flywheel wasn't deep enough to accept the ACT parts.

I have seen the word "front" stamped on the back of a part.

He may be able to flip it over & it may fit.

You need the have the mechanic call ACT directly.

NO

THIS FLYWHEEL DOES NOT WORK WITH S4 and S5 CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATES

I LEARNED THE HARD WAY

S4 / S5 discs will fit with the flywheel no problem. The friction surface arms stick out on S4 and S5 parts, so the OEM flywheel has tapered countersunk sections to accept the arms. THIS FLYWHEEL DOES NOT. IT IS FOR USE WITH 12A clutch pressure plates and older style 13B pressure plates. I have been told anything before 1983 will fit with this flywheel.

I am using a clutch pressure plate from a 1970's oldschool 13B, found in REPUs and RX4s. But I am using an S5 OEM sprung disc.

I tried fitting my racing beat race pressure plate to an S4 oem flywheel and S5 oem flywheel and they fit just fine. Tweakit.net says theirs will work with any OEM replacement. THIS IS NOT THE CASE. I have been emailing with the owner of tweakit.net for some time now about my situation.

YOU NEED a pressure plate from 1983 or earlier

I'll try to post pics of what his problem is but this forum sucks *** when you try to upload. Bear with me.

I just had FOUR database errors trying to upload pictures to this poorly maintaned forum

I have no patience to continue, let me see if I can find an alternate route

It's a shame really, since handy pictures for future reference are UNABLE to be posted here

You shouldn't have to log in to view the pictures

http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...391&hl=tweakit

Please EMAIL tweakit.net and ask them TO CHANGE THEIR ADVERTISEMENT THAT IT FITS OEM USDM FC3S CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATES

Remember the discs fit just fine, the pressure plates do not

Oh and don't go trying to gouge your flywheel or add washers to re-use your FC3S clutch. Just go get one from a 12A (with the same arms as shown towards the bottom of that link I provided).

Well less than half a day passed after bringing another thread to the attention of a representative about the fitiment situation and they have changed their advertisements on the website.

http://www.tweakit.net/shop/product_...roducts_id=658

I feel it's a quality product and I hope the (now corrected) advertisements don't leave any harsh feelings or bad reputations with tweakit.net. The transaction, ring gear (installation went smoothly, an attribute of a well made component), and their customer representatives are top notch.
