flywheel nut threadlocker and/or sealant
What threadlocking compound is recommended for the flywheel nut on a 2nd gen? The so-called "High Strength" permatex threadlocker at Autozone has a "Torque (in. lbs.) Break/Prevail" rating of 230/225. Also, it has a "Fastener Size" of 3/8" to 1" which is obviously smaller than the flywheel nut. But as far as the fastener size goes, there's a "Large Diameter" type of permatex threadlocker which has a "Fastener Size" of 1" and larger...
Does any of that **** really matter? What should I use on my flywheel nut?
And fricken what the hell is the (in. lbs.) thing all about? INCH pounds? I figure that's gotta be a load of crap typo or something because the lower strength threadlockers are listed as having a "62/27" torque rating which would be approximately 5/2 in foot pounds, making this stuff basically useless. Or I'm reading it all wrong, which is much, much more likely.
Also is there some kind of "sealant" needed in addition to the threadlocker? I feel like somewhere in my readings people may have mentioned two compounds that need to be used.

I just used regular old blue loctite, and I know it works, because I had to take the nut back off a little later.
I think some guys seal the area the nut "sits" against thinking it's gonna stop some kind of rear seal leak or something, I dunno, I didn't do it...

IMO, the sheer torque of the nut will make sure it wont come off. But if you want to overkill, the regular stuff should work fine. Remember, you might actaully want to get the damn thing off eventually.
