Flashing Hold Button and no speedometer

Well i just got a new top for my 91 vert automatic and it's been fine the past few days, but today i went to get lunch and saw that the speedo has quit working and the hold button is flashing. Anyone know what is wrong or where i can find an auto tranny diagnosis?

it ended up being a worn down speedo gear, the thing barely had any grooves left in it, simple enough to replace with a spare i had. makes me wonder why they used a nylon plastic gear instead of a metal one...oh well
